By all accounts the Wanderers are doing rather splendid this year don’t you think- wey hoe and all that.

Stirling University 2 -3 Milngavie Wanderers AFC
Scorers: Simmy, Crerand and Berto
Another great result and another great performance as the Wanderers go top of the league, securing all 3 points from a Stirling University team who played some really nice football.
For the first 20 minutes the game was evenly balanced with both teams trying hard to get the ball down in the damp conditions and play football. Each team set up their stalls early with the midfield battles almost immediately get played out with McKellar in the think of the action trying to get on the ball and driving the team forward.
The Wanderers sent out an attacking line up and in the 35 minute the hard work paid off when Simmy opened the scoring for the boys from Milngavie after scuffing the ball high into the roof of the Stirling net.
Stirling tried hard to get back into the game at this point throwing a lot of balls into the box but Martin Tait marshalled the defence well and ensured all first and second balls were cleared.
The second goal for the Wanderers arrived in the 40 minute when the best move of the game seen the ball skilfully played out of defence by Maxwell – staring his first game in centre of midfield since arriving from Mayhill Juniors – landed at the feet of Berto who played the ball into the gap wide left for Simmy to collect and fire the ball back across the box for the oncoming Crerand who blasted the ball beyond the helpless Stirling goal keeper.
The first half finished with the Wanderers well on top and looking good to add to their 2-0 lead for the second half.
The second half started with University slightly edging the first 15 minutes. Defensively the Wanderers had to be at their best as the Stirling team never stopped running or contesting every ball. Stirling was picking up one corner after another through caution to the wind as they searched for the goal to get them back into the game.
This enthusiasm unfortunately was to back fire on them when on the 75 minute a corner for Stirling was collected by Meeky whose quick ball up the park to the unmarked Berto – who scored what is surely the goal of the season – by lobbing the advanced keeper from just inside the Stirling half to make 3-0.
The save of the match arrived in the 80th minute when the ball broke to the Stirling midfield and shot hit on the half volley was brilliantly knocked over the bar by the outstretched finger tips of Meeky.
Stirling did get back into the game scoring 2 late consolation goals due to sloppy defending to make the score line a little more respectable but their was only going to be one winner on day at they were Milngavie Wanderers AFC.
Great performances from a number of players around the park but the sponsors man of the match goes to Gary McKellar for an excellent display at the heart of the midfield.
Next week the Wanders get another away fixture and head to their rivals Newton Mearns Rovers who will not know what to expect from a Wanderers team who are not going to take any prisoners in the league.
Come on the Wanderers!
